Speaker: Elizabeth Semple, Assistant Director of Office of Coastal and Land Use Planning at NJDEP

The US Department of the Interior and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (DOI/NWFW) initiated the Hurricane Sandy Coastal Resiliency Competitive Grant Program. Grants in NJ are being administered by the NJDEP. The program supports projects that reduce communities’ vulnerability to the growing risks from coastal storms, sea level rise, flooding, erosion and associated threats through strengthening natural ecosystems that also benefit fish and wildlife.

The program is focused on 5 project topics including Project Planning and Design; Coastal Resiliency Assessments; Restoration and Resiliency Projects; Green Infrastructure; and Community Coastal Resiliency Planning.  This presentation will focus on specific projects that have been awarded grants and the future grant opportunities.
