Hughesville Dam Removal Project - Presentation & Tour
Led by Geoff Goll, Princeton Hydro
Attendees to meet at:
608 County Road 627
Bloomsbury, NJ 08804
2:00 pm
On June 7, NJ-AWRA will visit the Hughesville Dam removal project on the Musconetcong River. The dam was located just downstream of the Route 519 bridge in Warren Glen, in Holland Township (Hunterdon County) and Pohatcong Township (Warren County). This project required collaboration among several partners, including the Musconetcong Watershed Association, which spearheaded the process, other members of the Musconetcong River Restoration Partnership, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, NJ Department of Environmental Protection, Princeton Hydro and property owners, municipalities, engineers and contractors.
The project received national attention following the dam removal in 2016, when then U.S. Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell and New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection Commissioner Robert Martin toured the project with the partners.
Geoff Goll of Princeton Hydro will provide an overview of the project, and then we will take a field tour.
*Non-members also have the option of becoming a NJ-AWRA member for the remainder of 2017 for $30, and take advantage of many membership benefits listed here, and can apply for a membership here.
